From Nevada Representative February 7, 1908

James Banks living north of town has been missing since Friday, and his absence has caused anxiety and stir. Foul play was feared, at first, but that theory was set at rest by discovery that he had drawn $325 from the bank, and boarded a train for Huxley. Mrs. Banks and the children were away for the day at the time of his leaving. Telegraphic inquiry of his father who lives in Nebraska fails to throw light on his whereabouts.

OBITUARY

JAMES BANKS DEAD.

The disappearance of James Banks, a farmer living two miles north of Maxwell, which occasioned great anxiety two weeks ago is finally explained. His home relations being pleasant and his finances prosperous, it was found when it was discovered that he had taken with him a considerable sum of money, that he had become the victim of foul play, but later developments explain his movements on the ground of temporary insanity.

A telegram being sent to his father, who resides in Blue Hill, Nebraska the father began investigations and found him seriously ill in a hotel at Hastings, the same state. Mrs. Banks being apprised of his location and condition, she and their children left at once for Hastings. Mr. Banks was found suffering from a high fever, the early stage of which was probably upon him when he went from home. He recognized his family, and seemed to gain till Sunday, when a relapse occurred, and he passed away on Tuesday, February 11th. Mrs. Banks returned to Maxwell with the remains Wednesday and the funeral was held on Thursday.
