The funeral of Mrs. Michael Purkhiser which was conducted Thursday afternoon at the Methodist church, called out a full house expressive of the high regard in which this one of the early residents of the town was held. The service by Rev. R. E. Shaw, the pastor, was appreciative and uplifting, the music was appropriate, and the floral tributes were numerous and beautiful. The children were all present to support their father in his loss, Mrs. Emily Hornberger, accompanied by her son, having come on from Lincoln, Nebraska, and the bearers were grandsons of the dear old mother, Frank and Bert Batman and Ray Purkhiser of Nevada, Lee Halsey of Madrid, Clyde Halsey of Des Moines and Ivens Hornberger of Nebraska. The burial was in the Nevada Cemetery.
