Death of Dr. Deering

Dr. A. A. Deering of Boone died at the hospital in that city Saturday afternoon, following an operation there on the preceding Monday. His progress immediately following the operation was favorable; but in the middle of the week he was better. His improvement, however, proved not to be permanent, and his life had been despaired of for a day or two before it ended. Dr. Deering was in his 60s and a physician of fine ability and eminent success. He was man of very great geniality and delightful both as a friend and adviser. He was almost universally known in Boone county and had a host of friends scattered through the adjacent and other counties. To all of such his death comes as very much of a shock. A few days before his operation he appeared to ---- perfect health, although he was distinctly of the opinion that an operation was needed. He was cheery about the matter, however, and if he had fear of the result he did not permit the fear to be apparent in his home. He leaves his wife, three sons and one daughter, all grown and all married except the youngest son. His funeral is held this afternoon.
