Roberta "Bert" Faye Cable was born December 7, 1945 to Sylvester and Emily (Oliver) Peakin in Ames, Iowa. Bert worked for many years in the office JC Penney's in Ames and then retired from Timberland in Story City. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Story City and enjoyed camping, fishing, gardening, and spending time with her family and friends.

Bert passed away at 71 years of age on January 12, 2017 at Bethany Manor in Story City.

Bert is survived by her son, Jerry (Candie) Cable of Ames; Jerry Matheason's children, Mike (Cari) Matheason, Janet (Mark) Templeton and Lisa Lowe, all of Story City; nine grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; her brother, Pat (Linda) Peakin of Colo; and her sister, Jan (Mark) Krausman of Nevada.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her significant other, Jerry Matheason; and an infant daughter, Patsy Cable.
