Death of H. G. Robinson

Horace G. Robinson, known to many hereabout as "Yankee" Robinson died on Friday last at the Soldiers' Home in Marshalltown, where he had been for the most part for the past year or two. He had been seen on the streets of Nevada within about a week before his death and his demise therefore occasioned considerable surprise. He was a native of Auburn, Indiana, where he was born on February 4, 1851. He came with his parents to Iowa in the early day, the family settling we believe, in the neighborhood of East Indian. After he had grown up he drifted west, and for five years from 1872 to 1877 he was in the regular army, engaged for the most part in fighting Indians. It was this service which entitled him later to admission to the Soldiers' Home. The family lived in Missouri for a number of years; but ten or a dozen years ago, he returned to Nevada, which has since been his home. He leaves his wife and two sons in Nevada and a daughter at Los Angeles, California. He was buried in Marshalltown.
