OBITUARY

Death of Mrs. J. W. Will

Mrs. J. W. Will, for many years a resident of Story county, passed away at her home in Marshalltown, Saturday September 4, 1909, at the age of sixty-three. Her remains were taken by way of Nevada to Iowa Center, on Tuesday, the 7th, funeral service being conducted by the deceased's former pastor, Rev. J. E. Stauffacher of Cedar Rapids and interment was at Iowa Center.

Hattie Elizabeth Higley was a native of Portage county, Ohio, came to Iowa Center 43 years ago, and was there married in 1868 to Charles B. Maxwell and was widowed in 1880 by the death of Mr. Maxwell. In 1881 she was married to John W. Will of Iowa Center and there continued till a few years ago when the family removed to Grinnell and thence to Marshalltown, where her husband in invalid condition survives her. She is also survived by four children, Edward H. Maxwell, of Chicago; Mrs. Veva Thayer, Leon Will and Miss Ina Will of Marshalltown and by her four brothers, Frank and Curtis Higley of Cawker City, Kan.; Hector A. Higley of Iowa Center, and Dr. Andrew Sheldon, of Des Moines. Among the relatives from some distance attending the obsequies were Mr. and Mrs. Frank Higley of Cawker City, Kansas; Mrs. Edna Keltz of Webster City; Dr. Fred Will and son Frank, and Miss Maud Bowen of Des Moines; and Joseph Leonard of Mingo. Many friends from nearer points expressed by their presence respect for the dead and sympathy with the bereaved.
