Mary Louise Dengler was born July 2, 1952 in Hartford, Conn. As a child, she lived in Connecticut, northeast Nebraska, and southeast and central Iowa. Mary's family moved to Ames in 1965 and she graduated from Ames High School in 1971. In 1976, Mary moved to Albuquerque, N.M. to attend the New Mexico School of Natural Therapeutics. Mary graduated as a registered massage therapist in 1977 and opened her business, "Therapeutic Massage" on 5th Street in downtown Ames in late summer of 1977. She was in business there until she retired December 2013.

Mary was a member of the American Massage Therapy Association from 1976 to 2015. She also taught massage classes through DMACC. Mary had been a member of Ames United Church of Christ since 1968.

Mary passed away at 64 years of age on Sunday, November 13, 2016 at Perry Lutheran Home in Perry, Iowa.

Mary is survived by her brother, Gregor (Marlys) Dengler, Jr. of Cedar Rapids; her sister, Laura (Gary) Deal of Ames; four nephews, Marvin Lande, Jr., Robert Deal, Bryon Deal and Richard Dengler; two great-nieces; and great great-nephews and nieces.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Gregor Dengler, Sr. and The Rev. Louise Dengler.
