COLO REPRESENTATIVE

Elmore Dolph who has been in St. Thomas hospital at Marshalltown for several seeks passed away Saturday afternoon. The remains were brought home Saturday evening. Funeral services were held at the home Monday afternoon, Rev. G. H. Johnson officiating. Interment was made in the Collins cemetery. Mr. Dolph had lived five and one half miles southeast of Colo for a goodly number of years and has a host of friends and neighbors who extend heartfelt sympathy in the bereaved family. Elmore Dolph

Elmore Dolph was born in Ohio March 16, 1844. He came with his parents to a farm near Laporte City, Iowa, was married to Miss Ashsah Ann Kennedy December 20, 1871 coming to the home farm 5 1/2 miles south east of Colo over thirty years ago. His wife died there in June, 1896, when the youngest of their twelve children was bout two months old. Mr. Dolph with the help of the older children kept the family together and made a good home for them. Mr. Dolph worked at his trade which was stone masonry when not engaged in farming. His health has been failing for several years and he had been very poorly for about a year. Early in April he went to St. Thomas hospital in Marshalltwon where he underwent a serious operation shich for some time was thought to have the desired effect, but he never was able to come home and for about three weeks has been failing constantly. He passed away June 14, 1913. Mr. Dolph was a man of good character, honored and highly esteemed by all who knew him, a kind husband, a loving, indulgent father and a good neighbor. Funeral services were held at the home and conducted by Rev. G. H. Johnson. The Colo I. O. O. F. of which he was an esteemed member attending in a body, six of the members acting as pallbearers. Interment was made in Collins cemetery. Ten children, eight grandchildren, two brothers and one sister, besides a host of friends remain to mourn for their loved one. The children were all present at the funeral and had been with him in his last hours. They are Delbert and Frank of Rockwell City, Mrs. Emma Brown of State Center, Edgar of Collins, Mrs. Bessie Granger living south of Colo and Lizzie, George, Mabel, Clara and Earl who are still at home. The entire community extend sympathy to the bereaved family.
