OBITUARY
Carl J. Kirkeby was born at Decorah, Iowa, April 16, 1875 and died at his home north of Story Sept. 10, 1920, being thus 45 years and 6 months old. He was a son of Mr. and Mrs. John Kirkeby.
On June 10, 1908, he was married to Miss Jane Anfenson, and to this union six children were born, namely, Inez, Oliver, John, Myrtle, Charles and George. Besides his wife and children, his mother and three sisters and one brother are left of mourn his death.
Mr. Kirkeby conducted a barber shop at Roland for eight years going from there to Decorah, where for three years he ran the Winneshiek hotel barber shop. The last year he and his family lived on the farm two miles north of Story City.
For several years his health ha been undetermined by tuberculosis, from which he finally died. He was a patient sufferer, and his death is regretted by a host of friends who had come to recognize his many good qualities.
Funeral services were conducted in the St. Petri church on Sept. 14, Rev. Andersen officiating.
