Darwin George Dippel, 80, of Nevada, passed away Monday, September 5, 2016, at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames.

Darwin was born March 26, 1936, in Bode, Iowa, the son of Lewis Dippel and Carol Mitsven. He served in the United States Marines from 1952 until 1955 and on October 2, 1965, he was united in marriage to Leona Larson in Iowa Falls. Darwin was a member of the American Legion and enjoyed coin collecting and cutting and polishing rocks.

Darwin is survived by his wife, Leona of Nevada; his son, Rocky (Maggie) Dippel of Plattsmouth, NE; his daughter, Darsi Dalen of Ralston, NE; his grandchildren: Alexander Dippel, Ryan Clevenger, Trent Dalen, Briana Dalen, Erica Dalen, and Kendra and Shelby Markley; and his brother, Lyle (Peggy) Dippel of North Carolina. He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Tracey Dippel; and a daughter, Rita Dippel.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Friday, September 16, at Rasmusson-Bacon Funeral Home in Nevada. Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, September 17, also at the funeral home. Inurnment with military honors will follow at the Nevada Municipal Cemetery in Nevada.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Israel Family Hospice House in memory of Darwin.
