Joan L. Quam was born on March 19, 1960 in Des Moines to Ed and Jacqueline (Brooks) Polzin. She married Ron Quam on August 27, 1994. She worked as a computer systems analyst for Blue Cross Blue Shield, Younkers and then at John Deere Financial. Joan enjoyed country western music, Crafting, reading, adult coloring books and cooking.

Joan passed away September 2, 2016 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines at the age of 56.

Joan is survived by her husband, Ron of Johnston; her mother, Jackie Faulkner of Hollister, MO; three brothers, Mark Polzin of Des Moines, John (Jennifer) Polizen of Woodward and Steve Polzin of Polk City; 4 nephews, 3 nieces, 2 great nephews; 4 great nieces; mother-in-law, Lela Quam of Story City; brother-in-law, Paul Quam of Story City and sister-in-law, Portia (Bob) Eischen of Story City.

She was preceded in death by her father, Ed Polzin; step father Daniel Falkner and sister, Diana Faulkner.
