RAT'S BITE WAS CAUSE OF DEATH

LITTLE GERALD McBRIDE VICTIM OF BLOOD POISON AND FEVER.

Rat fever is given as the cause of death of little Gerald McBride, age 3 years, son of Mr. and Mrs. Glenn McBride of near Zearing, at an early hour this morning.

A couple of weeks ago the child was in the garden with his mother. As he was toddling toward the house he began to cry and sobbed, "bit mamma, bite." Investigation showed a few slight scratches on his ankle. Little was thought of it until some days later when his knees began to swell and his condition became serious.

Specialists were called and they decided that the child had been bitten by a rat and that he was suffering from rat fever. He died at an early this morning.

He was a grandson of Mrs. J. E. McBride of southwest of the city and Mrs. McBride and other relatives were with the parents when the child died.
