MRS. W. H. JONES
Mrs. Sophia E. Jones, widow of the late W. H. Jones, died at her home in this city about eight o'clock Monday evening after a very brief illness. She was in Des Moines only last Wednesday in attendance upon the international convention of the Church Christ; but on Thursday she was taken ill, her trouble culminating rapidly in pneumonia, which proved fatal.
Mrs. Jones was born in Martinsburg, Ohio, June 10, 1854, was reared there, and was married there September 13, 1874. She came with Mr. Jones Nevada in that same year, and here was their home until his death on December 18, 1889, and has been her home since. In all her years she has been a most estimable woman. She was a charter member of the local Church of Christ, and she has been active in the work of the church and other good work. She is survived by seven of her eight children, of who only the eldest and youngest sons, G. Ross and Ralph, remain at home. The other sons are Chas. O. of Omaha; Wm. C. of Hood River, Oregon; and Bert M. of Tacoma, Washington. The daughters, Mrs. Ida Zimmerman of Des Moines and Nellie (Mrs. Robt.) Ricketts of Zearing.
The funeral will be conducted from the Church of Christ Wednesday at 3:30 p. m. by the pastor Rev. Henry.
