ZEARING WOMAN WAS BURIED TODAY

MRS. ALBERT CERKA VICTIM OF HEART COMPLICATIONS DIED SATURDAY

Special to the Journal.
Zearing, May 2 -- Mrs. Albert Cerka, 78, died at the home of her daughter Mrs. Will Schuler near Colo, Saturday following an illness of a few weeks. Death was due to heart complications.

The funeral services were held at the Evangelical church here this afternoon a two o'clock, with Rev. C. A. Claypool in charge.

There was music by a mixed quartette consisting of Mrs. Orpha Hankins, Miss Myrtle Martin, Glen McBride and Donald Womeldorf with Mrs. W. C. Young at the piano.

The flowers were in charge of Mrs. A. D. Hix and Mrs. W. C. Brouhard while the pall bearers were Steve Chance, Earl Sparrow, John Chance, Charles Barnard, John Allen and E. W. Womeldorf.

Interment was in the Zearing cemetery, by the side of the husband who died seven years ago.

Mrs. Cerka was a native of Norway, where she was born June 1, 1854, her maiden name being Anna Johnson.

She spent her girlhood in Norway and came to America when 20 years of age. Whe was united in marriage to Albert Cerka in 1877. For 11 years they made their home in Clinton county, Iowa, and in 1888 they came out to Story county and located on a farm southeast of Zearing. It was there that Mr. Cerka died April 20, 1925 and since his death Mrs. Cerka and the son William had continued their home on the homestead.

There were five children left to mourn the death of the parents. They are August and William Cerka of near Zearing and Mrs. Minnie Schuler of near Colo, Mrs. Anna Lyons of near St. Anthony and Mrs. Carrie Chance of Zearing.

Mrs. Cerka was born and reared in the Lutheran faith and was baptised and confirmed in that church in her native land of Norway.

During her long life in the Zearing community sh had been a warm friend and liberal contributor to the Bethel Evangelical church.

She leaves to mourn her death, in addition to her five children, three grand children, one great grand child; and a brother John Jonson and sister Mrs. Mary Ludvigson, both of Holstein, besides a wide circle of other relatives and friends.
