Death of Young Man

Orven Hegland, the eighteen year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Iver L. Hegland,. passed away on Friday at the home of his parents east of town. The boy was taken sick with influenza at Ames where he was attending a mechanical short course. He was brought home Saturday in serious condition and died the following Friday morning.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday from the residence.

Obituary

Orven Hegland was born on February 11, 1902, at the old Hegland homestead east of town, and died on February 6, 1920, being 17 years, 11 months and 26 days old at the time of his death. He was the oldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Iver L. Hegland.

For a number of years he attended the Roland schools and was liked and spoken well of by his teachers and school friends. Several weeks before his death he went to Ames to take a tractor course at the Iowa State College and it was while there he was taken sick.

He leaves to mourn his death a father and mother and a sister and brother, besides a host of relatives and friends.

We wish to at this time express our heartfelt thanks to our neighbors and friends for the many kind words and deeds shown us and the words of sympathy expressed during the sickness and death of our beloved son, Orven. We also wish to thank Rev. Smedal for his encouraging words, and also those who sent the beautiful floral offrings.
