Obituary
Lars O. Ritland was born at Huxley, Ia., May 6, 1877, the son of Ole and Sarah Ritland and departed this life on May 26, 1945 at the age of 68 years and 20 days. He was baptized and confirmed in the Fjeldberg Lutheran church of which he remained an active member.

On the eighth of March, 1905, he was united in marriage to Hannah Marie Lorresdahl, who survives him in death. To this union were born seven children, all of whom survive.

These are: Lloyd, 1st Lt. U.S. Army Air Corps, Mrs. Harold (Mildred) Woods, Cambridge, Ia., Everett of Ames, Ia., Herbert, Lt. (j.g.) U.S. Navy, Charles, Mankato, Minn;, Mrs. Harvey (Vivian) Peters, Austin, Minn., Donald, Lt. (j.g.) U.S. Navy. In addition he is survived by two sisters, Mrs. O.J. Carrie Erickson, Roland, Ia., Mrs. Ole (Lena) Legvold, Huxley, Ia., and one brother, Andrew, Huxley, Ia., and 13 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and one sister.

Most of his youth and early manhood was spent in Story county and since his marriage in 1905 has resided on a farm three miles northeast of Huxley.

His philosophy of life was to live and let live. His cheerfullness, friendliness, and kindness will be remembered and his passing will leave a great chasm in the lives of his family and community.

May God bless him in death as he so bountifully did in life.
