OBITUARY
Anna Rorvig was born in Opsanger, (Kvinherred Prestegjeld), Norway, on June 15, 1835, and died on Wednesday evening, July 23, 1919, having reached the age of 84 years, 1 month and 5 days, when the summons came.
She together with the late Sampson Rorvig, St., to whom she came when only fourteen years of age, emigrated from Norway in the year of 1873. She came to Clinton Co, where she remained only one year, then moved to Story County, making the trip across the country in a covered pioneer wagon and endured the many hardships of the early pioneer days. She made her home with the Mr. and Mrs. Sampson Rorvig family of this city until her death, the former being her cousin.
She was always very kind and willing to help everyone. She was never idle but always industrious as long as her health permitted. She was a true believer in God and died in the faith.
She has been an invalid for twelve years or more, suffering from facial neuralgia. She sought medical aid at many various places, once a Des Moines, three times at St. Paul and once at Rochester, but obtained only temporary relief. During the latter years of her life her health was rapidly declining and about five weeks ago she fell and fractured her hip, which was the direct cause of her death.
The departed one leaves to mourn her loss, two nephews Louis Saboe of Minneapolis and Andrew Wallen of Minnesota, and two nieces, Mrs. George Olson of near this place and Mrs. Tom Townswick of Minnesota, besides a large host of other relatives and friends.
The funeral was held on Saturday afternoon, July 26, at two o'clock from Bergens church. The services were conducted by her pastor, Rev. G. Smedal.
The remains were laid to rest in the Roland cemetery.
