DEATH SUMMONED LARS H. BAKKA

Lars H. Bakka, son of Halver and Britta Bakka, was born Sept 7, 1860 at Bakka, Sevde, Norway, and died at his home in McCallsburg, Ia., July 26, 1919, aged 58 years, 10 months, 19 days. Mr. Bakka came to America in Sept. 1884, settling at Roland and since that time he has lived in Iowa continuously with the exception of his college days which he spent in Macon, Ga., where he graduated from Mercer College, June 8, 1898.

From Roland he moved to Radcliffe and after residing there for 12 years he come to McCallsburg where his home has been for more than 20 years.

In McCallsburg he has been in turn merchant, druggist, banker and postmaster, the last position he held at the time of his death, and for 4 or 5 years preceding.

He enjoyed a large circle of friends and for his sterling worth, manly character and obliging ways bhe was held in high esteem by the whole community and by his acquaintances everywhere.

Dec. 1, 1900 Mr. Bakka was united in marriage with Miss Emma Clara Menzel, to them was born one daughter, Tressie. His place in the home is the first to be made vacant, but though he felt sad in leaving loved ones and friends he felt that Christ had prepared a pace for him in the Heavenly Father's home.

In early life he was confirmed in the Norwegian Lutheran church. He continued in the faith to the end. He approached his operation and death with Christian cheerfulness, resignation, fortitude and faith. Besides his sorrowing wife and daughter, he leaves together with a multitude of friends, two brothers and three sisters, Halver H. Bakka, Thompson, Iowa, Mrs. Elizabeth Fagerland, McCallsburg, Iowa, Hadle H. Bakka, Mrs. Mary Sondenaa and Mrs. Bertha Rafdal of Norway.

Among those who attended the funeral from here are Messrs. and Mesdames Sam Britson, Enoch Cole, Ed Fenn, Sam Bakka and Misses Lura and Vina Bakka, Mrs. Knudt Danielson and C. A. Fagerland.
