MRS. JOHN CONNOLLY

Mary Loftus was born March 15, 1838, in Fairmount, Virginia, where where grew to womanhood and was married to John Connolly. They soon came west to establish their home stopping at Story City and Nevada for a short time, then locating on Elm Hill Farm tow miles southwest of Colo, where she died May 4th 1913. Mr. Connolly passed away about four years ago and since then two of her children, Anna and John remained at home and cared for their mother. The others are either in homes of their own or employed elsewhere, to wit: Mrs. Martha, G. F. Duck of Scranton, Penn.; Agnes of Joliet, Ill., Loretta of Omaha, Neb., DeLa of Valley Junction, McClellan of Cedar Rapids, Daniel and Joseph of Des Moines and William who is at home for the present. One daughter, Mrs. Mary, S. F. McNichols passed away very soon after her father and a son Michael died in infancy.

Her remains were taken to her last resting place Tuesday, May 6th special services were held in St. Mary's church a requiem high mass being celebrated by Rev. Nichols assisted by Frank Ingalls of Nevada as soloist. Interment in the beautiful St. James cemetery her five sons and grandson acting as pall bearer. In her last hours she was surrounded by all her children and she died in the faith she had always cherished. In the passing of Mrs. Connolly the community looses one of its oldest and most highly esteemed members. She was a woman of noble and strong character, a devoted wife, a kind loving mother, a good neighbor, a true christian and one of the characters that has made the world better by her having lived in it. She will be long remembered and sadly missed.
