OBITUARY

SAMUEL WYANT.

Samuel Wyant, well known veteran, died at his home in this city this morning after an illness of long duration, which had toward the end been recognized as necessarily fatal. He was a native of Pennsylvania and served in the Union army in a regiment from that state. After the war he moved to Illinois and dozen years ago or so came to Nevada where he has since resided. He and Mrs. Wyant celebrated very happily their golden wedding here three years ago. He was seventy-six years of age and leaves his wife and two married daughters, Mrs. Percy Wallsworth of this city and another in Middletown, Illinois. The funeral will be conducted Thursday at two o'clock from the Christian Church.

OBITUARY

SAMUEL WYANT.

Samuel Wyant was born March 28, 1840, in Franklin Co., Penn., near Quincy, and was married to Maria King April 27th 1861, to which union was born two daughters, who survive their Father, one living in Illinois, and one Mrs. Percy Wallsworth in this city. Mr. Wyant enlisted Nov. 4, 1865 in company K, 107 Penn. Volunteers, on Jan. 4, 1861 he reenlisted for three years longer or as long as the war would last. He was finally mustered July 14 1865 with an honorable discharge. Besides skirmishes he was in nineteen battles, including Gettysburg, 2nd Bull Run, Fisher Hill, Look-out Mountain, Spotsylvania, Cold Harbor, Wilderness, Fredricksburg, Chancellorsville, and Petersburg. About the year 1902 he with his family moved to Nevada, which has been his home ever since.

Mr. Wyant died Tuesday, May 6, 1913, aged 73 years, 1 month and 8 days. He leaves a loving companion who has walked with him for 53 years in life, two daughters, nine grand children, nine great grand children, a host of friends and neighbors. The funeral was held from the Christian church Thursday afternoon conducted by Rev. Ruppert in the presence of many people, including old comrades, W. R. C. and other sorrowing friends.
