OIL CAN EXPLODED; BURNS WERE FATAL

HAD PLACE CAN ON STOVE AFTER KINDLING KITCHEN FIRE.

Cambridge, June 11--Funeral services for Mrs. Henry Wicks of north of Slater, who died from burns received when an exploding kerosene can threw flames over her, were held Sunday.

Mrs. Wicks was engaged in washing. She kindled the fire with kerosene and left the can on the back of the stove. It became heated and exploded, the flaming oil spreading over her clothing. The accident occurred Wednesday and for a time it was not realized that her injuries were serious. She died Thursday night, however.

Mrs. Wicks was well known in the community, being a sister of A. L. Larson and a sister-in-law of Mrs. Ole Lee of this place.

She was the eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L. O. Larson and leaves besides her parents and sister, her husband and one adopted child. The family lived north of Slater.

The funeral service was largely attended by relatives and friends in the community who were greatly shocked at the sad tragedy.
