OBITUARY
S. K. HUNTSINGER
A letter from Mrs. Samuel K. Huntsinger at Lincoln, Nebraska, reports the death on December 12 of Mr. Huntsinger, who was forty years ago a well and favorably known young man in this community. For several years after her removal he continued to be a frequent or occasional visitor here, especially while his father-in-law, Rev. Samuel J. Mills, yet survived and the Mills family had their residence here, and always he was remembered here by old friends with regard. He came here as a young man, held various positions and was for time deputy-postmaster. He courted here Miss Sarah Mills; but for the reason that the Mills family home had recently been burned, their wedding was at the home of her eldest brother in Clinton. Returning here they established their home in the cottage across the street north from the Lutheran church, where they resided for a number of years. In later years they resided in Nebraska, and Mrs. Huntsinger in her letter from Lincoln says:
"A year ago last November, Mr. Huntsinger was taken very sick and he was confined to his bed and room for 3 months. During the summer he was able to go about the house and out on the porch. He was a sufferer all these months but was so patient, with never a murmur of complaint. From Nov. 1st 1913 he seemed to fail so fast. The last three weeks of his life he was confined to his room and bed. He died December 12 being 70 years old. He was buried from Plymouth church and laid to rest in Wyuka cemetery. We have been members of that church since moving to South Lincoln. He was the treasurer of the church for five years up to the time of his passing away. He was faithful in what ever capacity he served.
We were married May 10th 1871 at Clinton, Iowa by my father Samuel J. Mills. Nevada was our home for several years.
It was a great disappointment to Mr. Huntsinger not to be able to go to Nevada when we laid mother away. He was Assessor at that time and only had a few days to complete his work. It would have been a great gratification to him to have visited Nevada once again and shaken hands with some of the old friends."
