Steven Craig Tjelmeland, 64, of rural Hubbard, Iowa passed away Wednesday, April 27, 2016, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames following a three year illness.

Steve was born March 9, 1952, the son of Harlan Everett and LaVon Arlene (Johnson) Tjelmeland. He graduated from NESCO High School in 1971 and was united in marriage to Marilyn Lewis on March 11, 1983. Steve was a member of the Iowa National Guard and employed by Roland Transport until his retirement in 2013. He enjoyed sharing a good story with friends and time spent with his family. Steve always made time for his pets and liked watching the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Chicago Cubs.

Steve is survived by his wife, Marilyn; his children: Barbara (Kris), Ryan and Erin; his sister, Marla Kay Tjelmeland; his brothers: Mike (Susan) and Rick (Denise); his granddaughters: Sarah, Megan and Taylor; his four great-grandchildren; along with multiple nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father.

Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Monday, May 2, at the McCallsburg Cemetery in McCallsburg with Pastor Tom Poppe officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames in memory of Steve.

Rasmusson-Bacon Funeral Home in Nevada is handling arrangements.
