Obituary From Adams Soderstrum Funeral Home, Story County, Iowa.

Dean Arthur Doyle was born February 20, 1932 to Frank A. Doyle and Veda Ruth (Pearson) Doyle in Algona, Iowa. He married Marilyn Daniher on January 31, 1953 while on leave from military service in Germany during the Korean War. Dean and Marilyn farmed and raised turkeys in Ellsworth after he returned from the service.

Dean was a kind, patient man who was loved by his family and expressed all the best attributes of a devoted husband, loving father, and accomplished farmer. He was an avid golfer and took regular fishing trips to Canada. He loved farm cats, golfing, Oreos and Tootsie Rolls. Dean excelled at many things, except self-importance. Dean was a calm and gentle man – always concerned with the needs of friends and family. At the time of his death, Dean and Marilyn had enjoyed their 20th winter in South Texas with friends. Dean loved the Lord and his church and was honored to serve the United Methodist Church of Ellsworth.

Dean passed away at 84 years of age on April 27, 2016 in San Antonio, Texas, after complications from heart attack and pneumonia.

Dean is survived by his wife, Marilyn Doyle of Ellsworth; his children, Gregg Doyle of Boone, Donna Doyle Carter (Todd Carter) of San Antonio, Texas, David Doyle (Dawn LaPrete) of Haiku, Hawaii and Todd Doyle (Erika Doyle); and grandsons, Truman Doyle and Alex Panchot, both of St. Louis, Mo.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Veda.

The Doyle family wishes to thank the many friends who enriched Dean’s life over the years. Thank you to everyone who offered prayers of encouragement and acts of support during Dean’s illness and this time of loss.
