From Nevada Representative January 31, 1894

Mrs. Nancy McQuillen whose maiden name was Humphreys, was born April 22, 1827, in Ashland Co., Ohio, where her early life was spent. Aug. 24, 1840, she was united in marriage with Alexander McQuillen. In Sept. 1867 the family emigrated to the state of Illinois and two years later in the autumn of 1867 they moved to Iowa and settled in the vicinity of Colo, Story Co., where the family resided till March 1884 when the old people bought a home and became residents of Nevada where they have lived ever since. Sister McQuillen had a joyful experience of religious life about 35 years ago, when she became a member of the Winebaharian church or church of God in which she has had membership ever since. Her conversion was instantaneous and thrillingly happy. She has had a peaceful and triumphant Christian life. Of late years she has been much afflicted suffering frequent hemorrhages but these though alarming to friends brought no fears to her. She has suffered three strokes of paralysis. The second one about five weeks ago at which time with clasped hands she gave expression to her perfect trust in the world's Redeemer and the bright prospect of eternal life. The last stroke fell suddenly on Sabbath morning Jan. 21st from which she never rallied, though lingering on the borderland till Friday morning Jan. 26, 1894 when she peacefully fell asleep. She was 66 years 9 months and 4 days old. Besides the sorrowing husband, she leaves eight children, four sons and four daughters, all of whom have the sympathy of the community. The funeral services were conducted Sunday forenoon from the Methodist church by Rev. J. R. Horswell.
