Death of R. M. McLain.

R. M. McLain, one of the Story county's pioneers, died at his home in Deer Lodge, Montana, Wednesday, December 16th, 1896. His fatal illness having been of sixteen months duration, it was upon him when he was visited a few weeks since by his brother, F. A. McLain of Nevada, and the latter's son, Clark, of Maxwell. The immediate surviving relatives of the deceased, besides the above, are a wife and five children, (the married home of two of the daughter being in O'Brien county, this state); and sister, Mrs Kate Hunt of Collins, Iowa.

Mr. McLain was born in Bedford county, Pennsylvania, August 22d, 1831. He came to Story county in 1854, when Mr. T. E. Alderman's residence was the only house in Nevada. He improved the farm now owned by H. H. Robinson southeast of Nevada an don this and other Story county farms lived for ten years. For the past twenty-five years Colorado and Montana have been his home.
