From Nevada Representative December 23, 1896

The wrecking of a freight train at Ontario yesterday morning resulted in the instant death of Fireman James Tracey of Clinton and the serious injury of Engineer Andrew Sill The train was making fast time down grade, and a misplaced switch turned it onto the side track and into some box cars. The engineer jumped and escaped with his life, but the fireman staid on and was killed. It does not yet appear who was responsible for the turning of the switch but the wreck was a bad one.
