OBITUARY
WARREN LETSON
Warren Letson, who was a boy here in the '50s and who has been a frequent visitor with relatives and friends here through all the years of his manhood, died very suddenly on Thursday at his home in Council Bluffs. His wife and son will arrive her with the body on the evening train from the west, and his funeral will be conducted at three o'clock on Saturday afternoon at the home of his sister, Mrs. Lydia Lockridge. His sister, Mrs. Rachael Miller, arrived this noon from Cedar Rapids and his daughter, Miss Helen will arrive late this afternoon from Minneapolis The elder daughter, Miss Florence, is in Alberta, Canada. His sister, Mrs. Waldron is of course here but Mrs. Balliet and Mrs. Zwilling, the latter now traveling around the world, will not be here though one of Mrs. Balliet's daughters and other relatives will be.
Mr. Letson was born in Kenton, Ohio, March 16, 1843, and died at Council Bluffs, Iowa, April 16, 1913, aged 70 years and 1 month. He came from Ohio to Nevada with his parents in 1858 and had his home here until he was ready to start out in life, having in the meantime attended school here and at Pittsburgh. As a man he was engaged in various enterprises, living at Hastings, Nebraska, at Des Moines and at one time in Montana; but the city where he was for the most part located, where he married in 1873 and where he finally died was Council Bluffs, and it is properly that city with which his manhood was identified as his youth was with Nevada. His last visit here was only a few weeks ago, when he spent more time with his sisters and among old scenes and friend than had been the case at any time before for many years. The visit was very welcome and it will now be remembered with especial gratitude. Mr. Letson was a capable business man and was possessed of high personal standing. His acquaintance was wide and favorable and his death will be very much regretted. He is survived by his wife, two daughters, one son, five sisters and numerous other relatives.
