From Grandon Funeral and Cremation Care obituary, Ames, Story County, Iowa:

Conley Weltha, 68, of Huxley, Iowa, died of heart disease at his home on Friday, March 18, 2016. A gathering reception will take place from 2:00-4:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 2, 2016, at Grandon Funeral and Cremation Care, 414 Lincoln Way in Ames.

Conley was born August 2, 1947, at home on the family farm near Randall, Iowa, the son of Amos and Arlene (Rasmusson) Weltha. He was baptized at Elim Lutheran Church in Randall. He grew up along the Skunk River and worked for area farmers. Many happy days were spent at Riverside Bible Camp mowing and swimming. He attended grade school in Randall and graduated in 1965 from South Hamilton Schools.

Conley entered the Army in 1966, serving in Vietnam with the 169th Engineer Battalion until 1968. Returning to civilian life, he married June Munchow on February 15, 1969, at Trinity Baptist Church, St. Paul, MN. The couple was blessed with two children, Wade and Andrea. Following military service, he worked with Gibbs Plumbing and later for Clark Weltha Plumbing until he started Conley's Plumbing, Ames, in 1976.

The family lived in Ames until 1992 when they moved to rural Huxley. Conley relished collecting antiques and owned Slater Trading Post. He was mechanically inclined, repairing any machine he could get his hands on. Conley never knew a stranger and enjoyed camping, fishing and hunting.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 47 years, June Weltha of Huxley; son, Wade of Ames; daughter, Andrea (Andrew) Carlson, Ankeny; his grandchildren; sisters, Bonita Bappe, Ames, Janette Gess, Jacksonville FL, Marie Johnson, Des Moines; and brother, Floyd of Randall; his aunt, Gaylene Rasmusson of Sebeka MN, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

In death, Conley rejoins his parents and his brother, Clark.
