Vale W. Peter was born on September 18, 1933 to Walter and Leona (Koch) Peter in Lime Springs, Iowa. He married Dorothy Doyscher on May 26, 1954. She died January 26, 2015. Vale served as General Manager of the Heart of Iowa Coop for 34 years. He served in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of the Korean Conflict and member of the Roland American Legion. Vale was also a member of Salem Lutheran Church and enjoyed golfing, fishing, and his family.

Vale passed away at 82 years of age on March 6, 2016 at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames.

He is survived by his son, Craig (Dawn) Peter of Omaha, Neb.; daughter-in-law, Joyce (Peter) Boston of Nevada; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Vale was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Dorothy Peter; his son, Kyle Peter; his daughter, Valerie Peter; and two sisters, Irene Hystead and Shirley Mindis.
