From Nevada Representative September 16, 1891
Last Wednesday, Sept. 9th, the body of Joseph Garsman in a badly decomposed condition was found on the farm of Ed. McNichols, near the poor farm. Dr. Chamberlain, coroner, being notified, viewed the remains and deeming a jury unnecessary under the circumstances, made record of the "death from exposure, exhaustion and starvation." Mr. Garsman was an inmate of the insane department of the County Infirmary and wandered away therefrom Aug. 2nd; and though search had been made for him he was not found until the date named above. He was 87 years of age, partially blind and quite infirm. He had made a bed of rushes and thereon died. He was a native of France though of German ancestry and was an educated physician having been located at one time at Ontario in this county. His remains received proper attention.
