From Nevada Representative August 19, 1891

Under the heading:
ROLAND DEPARTMENT

+ We have just learned of a very bad accident at Radcliffe on Monday. Louis Thompson a well known farmer living in the south western part of Hardin county, got on the head part of a freight train which was to carry him to Eldora Junction and started to walk back to the caboose. He had walked but a car length when a sudden jerk of the train threw him head first in between the cars killing him instantly. More than a dozen cars ran over him and his body was so mangled as to be hardly recognizable. It is a hard stroke for his family.
