From Nevada Representative August 19, 1891

Richard McIntosh, after a lingering illness of several months, died at the home of his son, H. C. McIntosh, in this city, Monday afternoon, August 17th, 1891. He had reached the advanced age of 80 years lacking only one month. He was born in Schoharie county, New York, in which state he passed the first twenty years or more of his life. He lived some thirty-five or forty years in northern Illinois, returning from there eighteen years ago to Story county, Iowa, where he has since continually resided. He was three times married and his third wife survives him. There are three sons and two daughters, children by the first and second wives, still living: Andrew of Sioux City, Wm. of Nebraska City, Nebraska, H. C. of Nevada, Mrs. Mary E. Bryan of San Diego, California, and Hattie E. Miller of Slater.

He suffered much in his illness, but at last sank to his final rest as one who peacefully slumbers. Prayer was offered at the house early yesterday morning and he remains were conveyed to Slater for funeral exercises, and to Sheldahl for burial in the afternoon. Both services were appropriately conducted by Rev. Mr. Danner.

Mr. McIntosh was a worthy man and citizen and will be mourned by his relatives and held in kindly remembrance by neighbors and acquaintances.
