Obituary From Adams Soderstrum Funeral Home, Story County, Iowa.

Alice Jane Carothers, 98, passed away December 20, 2015 at Bethany Manor in Story City, Iowa. Services are planned at a later time. Burial of the cremated remains will be at Calvary Cemetery in Louisville, KY.

Alice Jane was born August 9, 1917 to Herbert and Mary Alma (Hughes) Jessel in Louisville. She graduated from Presentation Academy, and was a long-time member of Holy Spirit Parish. She married F. Robert Carothers on August 8, 1942 in Louisville.

Alice Jane is survived by her children: Jane C. McNally of Snohomish, WA, F. Robert (Julia) Carothers, Jr. of Louisville, Kathleen C. Geoffroy of Boalsburg, PA, and Susan M. Denny of Gastonia, NC; grandchildren: Robert McNally of Louisville, Karen Upson of Mercer Island, WA, Joseph McNally of Ames, Kate Meehan of Batavia, OH, F. Robert Carothers III of Louisville, Mark Carothers of Louisville, Susan Maynard of State College, PA, Janet Palmatier of State College, PA, David Geoffroy of Encinitas, CA, Michael Geoffroy of Easton, MD, Sara Whatmore of Denver, CO and Kevin Denny of Charlotte, NC; and seventeen great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her sister, Elizabeth J. Mulhall.

Memorials may be designated to Bethany Life, 212 Lafayette Avenue, Story City, IA 50248.
