From Slater News June 13, 1890
Apland:--Ole B. Apland, died at the home of his sister, Mrs. Andrew Sampson, about three miles east of Slater, Monday morning June 9th, 1890 of Liver complaint. Funeral services at the residence Tuesday morning at 10 o'clock by Rev. Farseth. His remains were laid to rest in the Slater cemetery, besides those of his wife, who preceded him to the grave about five months. A large number of friends and relatives were in attendance.
His sickness dates through a period of only a few months, although he was able to attend to his business here until about one week ago, when he was prevailed upon by friends to go to the country, hoping that the change would put him on the road to recovery; but it was not to be.
The sympathy of the entire community is with the four small children, who are thus bereft of a father, and the brother and sister, in their sad bereavment.
