From Nevada Representative August 14, 1889

Mrs. T. J. Ross recently received word of the death of a beloved niece at Fort Scott, Kansas. We copy below from the Monitor, a local daily, portions of an appreciative obituary:--

On Tuesday evening, July 30th, at the home of her parents in Fort Scott, Miss Bessie M. Simons, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter L. Simons, after a long and painful sickness, passed from this life. To the large circle of friends who knew Bessie's noble qualities of mind and heart, the news of her early death will bring the deepest sorrow. To rare physical endowments there were added mental gifts of a high order which she labored to develop and improve, looking upon them as talents which might be used for doing good and helping others. Her sweet, happy disposition made her the light of the home and gave a charm to her inter course with others. All that love and skill could devise was done to retain life so beloved, ans so full of promise fo usefulness. But the Heavenly Father in His providence ordered otherwise, and she has passed into that better life where there is no death, leaving with us memories of a pure, sweet life, too early passed from earth. Fro the midst of our sorrows we thank God that this unfolding blossom has not perished, but has entered where

"There is life with God
"In other kingdoms of a sweeter air
"In Eden every flower is blown."

SUBMITTER'S NOTE: Bessie Simons was the daughter of Walter L. Simons and Mary McCreary.
