From Nevada Representative April 24, 1889

David S. Smith died yesterday at the rooms of his step-father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Horner. He was an industrious young man, 29 years of age, came to Story county a little over a year ago and was apparently in perfect health until within two weeks of his death. His funeral occurs at ten o'clock this morning. His relatives return thanks for kindly offices.

SUBMITTER'S NOTE: David S. Smith was the son of Nathaniel Smith and Ruth V. Spurrier. Nathaniel Smith died in 1863 and Ruth (Spurrier) Smith remarried Jacob Horner after 1884.
