From Nevada Representative March 20, 1889

Died.

At Colo, March 11, 1889, after a lingering illness of consumption, Miss Phebe Hopkins, age 21 years. Scarce ever has a community known deeper sorrow than when from lip to lip and heart to heart passed the sad intelligence that Phebe was no more a resident on earth. Her sweetness of spirit, amiability as a lady, and above all the worth and beauty of her character have secured for her a large place int he affections of all who knew her. Her perfect Christian trust failed her not in the last days and hours of her life, and although she longed to live for the sake of her dear ones yet she rested all with her Lord knowing that "He doeth all things well." Her life was pure, her death was peaceful, and her friend are comforted with the assurance that on that bright, starry night she left them she exchanged the "Cross for the Crown,:" the sorrow here for the joy of the Angels there.

Death has robbed them of their Phebe,
Whom they loved and cherished dear;
it was Phebe--yes dear Phebe--
Can they help but shed a tear!

Ye they miss her, oh, they miss her,
When they see her vacant chair,
But how sad the room without her,
For there is not Phebe there.

How they loved her--yes they loved her--
Oh, no earthly tongue can tell.
Yes the angels they have called her
Up to heaven, there to dwell.

But cheer up, you know she's waiting,
For her dear ones evermore,
And is singing with the angels
On that bright and golden shore.
