Obituary.

Frank L. Lockridge was born on what is now known as the Hutchins farm, southeast of Nevada, March 20th, 1867. He graduated from the Nevada High School with the class of 1884, and immediately after entered his father's lumber yard. He died without warning November 6th, 8888 at the age of twenty one. The tale is not long, but it is that of one who was all his life identified with Nevada, who was recognized as one of our most promising young men and who was the stuff upon whom his father was learning to lean. His character was unimpeachable, his abilities excellent, his good fellowship notable, and his health and strength seemingly rugged. None had better prospect of long and useful life. Death is sad enough at any time, but when it suddenly cuts off such a one at the threshold of his life work, its blight is terrible and consolation harder than ever to find. In such an instance surely sympathy with the stricken relatives cannot be too profound.

The funeral was conducted from the home of his father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Lockridge, Thursday forenoon. Prayers were offered by Revs. Ferguson and Fegtly, and appropriate remarks were made by Rev. Ziegler. From the house to the grave the body was preceded by the Knights of Pythias and the High School Alumni, and followed by nearly all of the near relatives and multitude of friends. At the grave the rites of the Knights of Pythias were conducted by the prelate, W. J. Reynolds, and fitting remarks were made on behalf of the order by Knight H. L. Carrell. The benediction was pronounced by Rev. Zeigler.

SUBMITTER'S NOTE: Franklin "Frank" Lockridge was the son of William Lockridge and Lydia Ann Letson. "S. F. Balliet" mentioned in the first article was Stephen Ferguson Balliet who was married to Helen Letson. Helen (Letson) Balliet was a sister to Lydia (Letson) Lockridge and was therefore the maternal aunt of the deceased.
