Obituary.
Died, at the home in Cheyenne, Wyoming Territory, Sunday night, April 26, Daniel F. Whipple.
The deceased was born in Chautauqua county, New York, June 1, 1836, and was married at Marion, Iowa, June 1, 188, to Irene A. Boynton, who was the daughter of Henry Boynton of this city and whose death occurred on the second of last January. He resided in Marion until 1877 when he removed to this city. He lived here for about five years and then moved to Cheyenne, which city remained his home until his decease. He had been troubled with Bright's disease but the immediate cause of his death seems to have been pneumonia. He was a fine singer, an enterprising business man, a gallant soldier and a respected citizen. His funeral was held last week Tuesday, under the general management of the G. A. R. post of which he was a member, and it is said by the Cheyenne papers to have been one of the most largely attended ever held in that city.
Mr. Whipple had four children, Mrs. Frank Dana, Mrs. W. N. Hunt, Miss Lulu Whipple and Harry Whipple. The second and last were with him at the time of his death; the other tow did not reach Cheyenne until the Monday night following. Mr. Whipple is well known and very kindly remembered in Story county; and many warm friends will regret his decease and tender their sympathies to his children and other relatives.
