From Nevada Representative December 17, 1884

Mr. H. B. Stoddard, who has been sick with typhoid fever for four or five weeks, died, at his residence in this city, last Friday forenoon. His funeral was largely attended by relatives and neighbors, at the Methodist church Sunday morning, the Rev. I. Reid, of whose society Mr. Stoddard was a valued member, conducting the services. Mr. Stoddard was born in Virginia in 1850, came to this county some eight years ago, and, for about two years previous to 1883, was postmaster at Iowa Center. He was a brother-in-law of W. I. Stevens* of this city, was a man of quiet ways, and well thought of by those who knew him. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends. Mrs. Stoddard and little daughter have the sympathy of the community in their bereavement.

To neighbors and friends who have rendered kindly assistance during the sickness, death and burial of her husband, Mrs. Stoddard hereby expresses heartfelt thanks.

SUBMITTER'S NOTE: Henry Bruce Stoddard was married to Mary A. Stevens. Her brother was William Inlows Stevens. Therefore, the two men were brother-in-laws
