William Armitage a resident of Richland township from 1869 to 1874, died in Seymour, Wisconsin, January 31, 1884. Mr. A. was born in England in 1832 and came to this country with his parents in 1842. In the town where he lived he was a prominent man, holding at time offices of trust and filling them always with credit. Of him, the local paper says: "A good mechanic, an honest conscientious man, an earnest and devoted christian, his loss to his bereaved family and the community will be great and irreparable." He is kindly remembered, and his death regretted by his old neighbors and acquaintances in Story county.
