From Nevada Representative January 16, 1901

Obituary.

Mrs. Ida Ross Boardman wife of Dr. C. D. Boardman died at their home in Des Moines Monday evening. Her death brings sadness to very many friends in Nevada. Ida Ross was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. T. J. Ross and was born in Ohio March 31, 1856. She was while yet very small brought by her parents to Iowa Center, Story county, and about January, 1860, her father having been elected county treasurer, the family came to Nevada. Here she grew up and was married in 1878 to Dr. Boardman. In the meantime she had graduated from the Agricultural College in the class of 1875, Dr. Boardman having graduated there a year earlier. They began housekeeping at Monticello, but moved soon after to Odebolt, and in 1872 to Des Moines. She had been an invalid for a year or so, and some of her Nevada friends may have been aware that her condition was critical; but most of them were not. She was a woman of worth and culture, and her death is a great bereavement to all those about her. She leaves her husband and three children in Des Moines, her father, T. J. Ross, now of Great Bend, Kansas, and her sister, Mrs. Carrie Horton of Ames. She had four children, but the eldest, Ross Boardman, was drowned a number of years ago in the Des Moines river, preceding his mother to the other shore. Mrs. Boardman's funeral is held this afternoon in Des Moines and the interment will be in Woodland Cemetery.
