--Geo. McArthur was killed Friday morning by the cars at Colo. He ws a bachelor, 63 years of age lived at the City Hotel. He went out about five o'clock and was found about seven dead by the track, and this appears to be all that is known of his death save the obvious fact that he had been killed by the train and that a fast train went through shortly after he went out. He was an old settler in the county and well esteemed.

On the morning of January 24th Geo. McArthur, aged sixty three years, and stopping at the City Hotel, was found dead north of the C. & N. W. tracks opposite the City Hotel, he having evidently been struck by a passing train about five o'clock though he was not found until seven a. m. It appears he tried to cross the track with a basket of corn and oats and did not notice the approaching train until too late. No one witnessed the accident. Coroner Mills was called to hold an inquest. The verdict of the jury was that he came to his death by being struck by a C. & N. W. train. The funeral took place on the following day. The services were held in the Evangelical church by Rev. Bamford, and the remains were laid to rest in the Colo cemetery. Mr. McArthur was never married, but three sisters survive him. They are Mrs. C. C. King of Colo, Mrs. C. C. Hayden of Blairstown and Mrs. Orr of South Dakota.
