Hemming Romsa died at his home northeast of Slater January 16, at the advanced age of nearly 79 years. He was a native of Valestrand, Norway, came to America in 1857, and to Story county in 1860 and purchased the homestead which he occupied till the close of his life. He was twice married. His aged wife and five children survive him. Services were conducted by his pastor, Rev. H. J. Holman, and interment was in the Bethlehem cemetery. Thus another of the pioneers passes.
