From Stevens Memorial Chapel obituary, Ames, Story County, Iowa:
Jacob Lee Myers
August 22, 1981 - August 14, 2015Jacob Lee Myers, 33, of Maxwell was born August 22, 1981 to Joel and Vikki Myers. He grew up in Maxwell, graduated from Collins-Maxwell High School (2000) and went on to attend Iowa State University; graduating with a degree in Animal Science (2004). After graduating from Iowa State he met and married his beloved wife Sarah on June 2, 2007 in Maxwell. Together they have five children, Paden (7), Clara (4), Celia (2), Haddi (1) and Claet (1). Jacob loved his family dearly, every day he worked to make a happy life for them, sacrificing to make their world better. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting with his son Paden, taking him turkey hunting for the first time this year, and talked about hunting with Claet once he was old enough. While he loved his boys, his girls truly had him wrapped around their fingers and he could often be found giving pony rides or painting toe nails upon demand. He was an exceptional husband, father, son, brother and friend to all who knew him.
From a young age Jacob grew up alongside his grandfather and father raising feeder pigs and especially enjoyed the trip to market with the hogs which was always followed by breakfast at Cecil's. He continued to serve the swine industry for the majority of his life. He custom fed hogs, supervised sites for Iowa Select Farms and managed the Iowa State University Swine farms briefly before returning home to manage Our Family Veterinary Clinic with Sarah. Together they owned and operated veterinary clinics in Maxwell and Colfax Iowa. He could often be found answering the phone or working behind the scenes, helping everything flow smoothly. After Sarah, his second love was livestock. He was a member of Practical Farmers of Iowa and enjoyed rotationally grazing livestock of all types and helping others interested in all types of livestock.
Jacob is survived by his wife Sarah, and their five children Paden, Clara, Celia, Haddi and Claet; parents, Joel and Vikki Myers; sister, Kelli (Seth) Moore; niece, Lexxi Moore; nephews, Joseph Moore and Daniel Moore all of Maxwell; father-in-law, Fred Wagenaar of Cedar Rapids; brother-in-law, Timothy (Kristie) Wagenaar; nephew, Charlie Wagenaar all of Wochester Massachusetts; sister-in-law, Hannah (Chris) Wagenaar of Kantishna, Alaska; grandmother, Carol Myers of Maxwell; grandmother, Linda Johnson of Ames; grandmother, Thelma Johnson of Nevada; grandmother, Esther Corrigan of New Hartford, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
