David Odale Ose, 48, of McCallsburg, IA passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 29, 2015 at the Israel Family Hospice House with his loving wife by his side.

A visitation will be held from 5 - 7 p.m. on Tuesday, August 4, 2015, at Stevens Memorial Chapel (607 28th St., Ames, IA 50010). Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 5, 2015, at St. Paul Lutheran Church (610 15th St., Ames, IA 50010). Burial will follow in the Warren Township Cemetery, in McCallsburg, IA, with full military honors conducted by American Legion Post #334 of McCallsburg.

David was born January 6, 1967, in Kansas City, MO, to Odale and Mary Ann (Hauser) Ose. He grew up in Overland Park, Kansas, where he graduated from Shawnee Mission South High School, Class of 1985. Upon graduation, David enrolled at Iowa State University (Ames, IA), majoring in Agri-Marketing with Agronomy & Animal Science, for two years. In 1986, David enlisted in the military, serving honorably in the US Army 7th and 12th Special Forces Groups.

Later, while serving in the Army Reserve, he completed his Bachelor's degree in Business Management & Marketing, at Luther College (Decorah, IA) in 1992. It was during his time at Luther College that David met his future wife, Amy (Drewis), when enrolled in a Lutheran Traditions class together. Eight years later on July 25, 1998, David and Amy were married in Telluride, Colorado with the San Juan Mountain Range as a backdrop. They made their home in Overland Park, KS and Fergus Falls, MN before moving to the Ose Farm in McCallsburg in 2003.

David enjoyed many things: music, woodworking, fishing, hunting, and scuba diving. He also found great joy in spending time with his dogs, Sinda, Mallik & Sadie. David loved to travel and enjoyed immersing himself in the culture of the locations he visited. He believed wholeheartedly that life is about the journey, not just the destination; he strived to make his journey as interesting as possible. David will be remembered for his charismatic personality, strong convictions, and for the endearing way that he loved and cared for his family, especially his parents.

Left to cherish David's memory are his wife, Amy of McCallsburg; mother, Mary Ann Ose of Roland, IA; siblings, Carol (David) Ose-Diehl of Hope, NJ and Kevin (Marijo) Ose of Eden Prairie, MN; nephews, Tim, Ben & Johnny Ose and Jeremy Diehl; nieces, Grace & Katie Ose and Mia Diehl. He also leaves behind his loving in-laws, two uncles, seven aunts, many cousins and a host of long-time friends.

In death, David is reunited in Heaven with his father, Odale Ose; his grandparents, three aunts and ten uncles.

Memorial contributions may be directed towards the family.
