Services held for Mabel B. Larson, 100
Mabel B. Larson, 100, of Story City, formerly of Huxley, died Wednesday, Nov. 5, at Bethany Manor in Story City of Congestive Heart Failure.
Services were held at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 8, at Fjedberg Lutheran Church in Huxley with Rev. Russell Creydt officiating.
Burial was in the Ames Municipal Cemetery.
Obituary
Mabel Larson was born in Iowa Center on July 26, 1897 to Willam and Rose (Guge) Brodie. She had lived in Sheldahl, Ames and Huxley before moving to Bethany Manor in 1987. She was united in marriage with Tennis A. Larson on July 20, 1918 in Toledo, Iowa. She was a homemaker and had worked at Kappa Alpha at Iowa State for seven years. She was a member of Fjeldberg Lutheran Church. She had been of Sheldahl United Methodist Church in Sheldahl and Calvary United Methodist Church in Ames and president of American Legion Auxiliary unit.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Tennis on Nov. 11, 1964; a daughter, Rose Carol Tyler; two great-grandchildren; and six brothers, Kenneth, William, Walker, John, Ralph and Andrew Brodie.
Survivors include a daughter, Mary Jane Anderson of Des Moines; a son, Arnold Larson of Huxley; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Mary Bond and Jennie Christy, both of Story City, and Roselma Hanson of Ames.
Soderstrum-Riis Funeral Home in Slater handled the arrangements.
