From Nevada Representative February 9, 1917

MRS. J. E. CRAFT

Carrie Bell Treman was born near Hampshire, Illinois on February 8th, 1856 and departed to her heavenly reward from her home in Zearing on February 3rd after having attained the age of 60 years, 11 months and 6 days.

On November 20th, 1873, at Marengo, Illinois, she was joined in marriage with John E. Craft to which union seven children were born all of whom except Roy, who died in his seventh year, remain and with the husband and father mourn the loss of a dear one. The children are J. Walter of LaPorte City, Grace M. Couser of Des Moines, Ira of Roundup, Montana, and B. Burt, Lena Allen and Harry of Zearing. A sister, Mrs. Minnie Fleming of Elgin, Illinois also survives.

For about five years after her marriage the deceased lived on a farm near Hampshire, Illinois and then with the family moved onto a farm between Zearing and St. Anthony where they resided until about 12 years ago at which time they moved to Zearing.

Mr. Craft was possessed of the real pioneer spirit which longed for conquest and with the fortitude which characterized the early settlers of this western prairie country endured uncomplainingly the perils and hardships and sacrifices incident to the making of a home for the growing family. Always anxious to faithfully perform her part, she was real help mate who thoughtfully considered the interests of the entire family and never failed in her devotion thereto and her children will not fail to carry forward to blessed memory her beautiful example as a Christian mother.

For some twenty years she has been a loyal and devoted member of the United Evangelical church at Zearing and always manifested vital interest in the promotion of the enterprises and gladly gave her best in time, means, and physical strength in appreciation of its place in her life. At different time during her prolonged illness she expressed her confidence in the saving power of her Redeemer and her assurance that all was well with her soul.
