Carrol James Pearson, 91, of Nevada, formerly of Roland, died Friday, July 10, 2015 at Story County Senior Care in Nevada.
Carrol was born December 28, 1923 at the Pearson Family Farmstead near Garden City in Hardin County, Iowa. He graduated from McCallsburg High School in 1941.
Carrol was united in marriage to the love of his life, Pauline Hester Kinyon on February 23, 1946 at her parent’s home in Nevada, Iowa. Carrol was a farmer, member of the McCallsburg Lions Club, and former President of Farmers Union. He loved raising Duroc Hogs and showing them at the State Fair. Carrol was a humorist and enjoyed being with and getting to know people.
Carrol is survived by his wife, Pauline of Nevada, Iowa; one son: Calvin (Cheri) Pearson of Roland, Iowa; three daughters: Colleen Ann (David) Karnick of Hastings, Minnesota, Carolyn Ann (Stephen) Brandt of Phoenix, Arizona, Charlene Ann (Joe) Ferguson of Otho, Iowa; seven grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and two sisters: Betty Vogt and Evelyn Thompson, both of Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Carrol was preceded in death by his parents; one brother: Leslie Pearson; and two sisters: Arlotte Skartvedt and Leah Risetter Cooper.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, July 19, 2015 at the Bacon Funeral Home in Nevada.
Visitation will be 2-3 PM Sunday at the Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to Story County Senior Care, Saint Jude’s Hospice, or one may brighten someone else’s day with an act of kindness in memory of Carrol.
